Since I bought it, the iPad Pro has become one of the best weapons in my tool arsenal. However, there are some tweaks needed to make life for us developers easier when working with it. One of them is to disable auto capitalization completely.
If you, like me, are a developer, probably you write a lot about programming. Additionally, chances are you include lot of code in your blog posts, articles or documents.
If that’s the case, nothing probably annoys you more than the auto-capitalization feature of iOS.
Obviously, if you are not a developer, or never include code in your writing, Auto Capitalization is indeed an awesome feature. However, for me, having to go back every line of code to fix the first letter was driving me nuts…
A quick Google search informs you about the “Auto Capitalization” feature and how to disable it.
Nevertheless, when you connect the iPad Pro’s smart keyboard, you suddenly realize that auto capitalization is back!
Finally, I was able to find a way to disable Auto Capitalization completely, and I want to share it with you in case you find yourself in my same situation.
Disable Auto Capitalization For Your Software Keyboard
Probably you have already disabled Auto Capitalization on your software keyboard. However, just in case, I’ll show you how to do it.
First, go to the Settings app, and click on General, and then on Keyboard.
Then, just disable the Auto Capitalization setting there.
Next, let’s see how to disable it also in your smart keyboard, i.e: the hardware keyboard.
Disable Auto Capitalization For Your Hardware Keyboard
Without leaving the previous screen, click on Hardware Keyboard.
Then, disable the Auto Capitalization feature there also.
Now your smart keyboard will be free of that annoying (or cool, depending on your needs) feature, yay!
I cannot possibly think on a situation in which you may want to have auto capitalization in the software keyboard but not on the hardware keyboard or viceversa. As a result, it was kind of a shock for me to realize that auto capitalization was back in my iPad Pro’s smart keyboard.
That’s why, in this post, I wanted to share with you how to disable auto capitalization on the iPad Pro completely. Probably it was pretty obvious for you, but it took me some time to figure it out.
